50 Ways for Him to Propose to Her
Posted by Orange County DJ on Dec 15, 2011
If you click the link below, you’ll see all 50 great ideas “proposed” by KCTV 5. I was thinking, hey what better way to start off the new year than will awesome, unique ways for him to propose to her.
If she says “yes”, you know who to call to DJ and Emcee your big reception… naturally, you would contact me. I would love to do your wedding in 2012.
Have a flair for the dramatic? Get in touch with the stage manager of an appropriately themed production and propose after the cast’s curtain call. Take out a full-page ad in a newspaper you know your girlfriend reads daily. Arrange a surprise proposal with a street caricaturist. Have him sketch a picture of you two with word bubbles. Yours will read, “Will you Marry Me?”, and hers will say, “Yes!”

Great Song form the 90’s

I don’t know if these guys were merely one hit wonders, but this sure is a nice song. I enjoyed playing it in The Tans. Silent Lucidity by Queensryche.
The tricky request – you can always spot em
Posted by Orange County DJ on Nov 19, 2011
Sometimes when I’m playing Top 40 stuff for the crowd, a guy will come up and request some gangsta rap or heavy metal (yes, people actually request metal).
About 2 minutes after I politely decline his request, a young lass will come up and make the identical request, maybe with a flash of cleavage and a wink. Most girls in clubs request poppy stuff like BEP, Miley, and GaGa. Not many girls request BDP, Motorhead, or Gangstarr.
Nice try, but I didn’t fall for your little ruse.
If the request sucked when a guy asked, it will still suck when a girl asks.
Here’s another interesting observation mad by the blogger at stuffdjshate. I don’t see it often, but the tactic is used upon occasion. Fellow DJ’s beware.
Silly DJ FAQ: What songs do you have?
Posted by Orange County DJ on Nov 18, 2011
This has to be one of the silliest questions in the day of technology. Answering this question (by a pro DJ) would take about 4 weeks. I thought this was another fun observation.

Written by Ric Hansen · October 4, 2011I just got a note from John Davies in Wisconsin, a School Dance Network responsible DJ Member…He said:
“I thought I should tell you about a successful high school Homecoming dance I worked last Saturday night in Hartford, Wisconsin. Nearly 1000 students turned out for the dance on campus. Boys in shirts and ties, girls in party dresses all well behaved and having fun! The school wants us back as the feed back was great from the students and staff. We played fun songs, set an atmosphere of fun and not a freak night club vibe. This choice of music pays off ! Thanks for the lists!”If you do school dances and are not a “Responsible DJ Member” you can join at the School Dance Network web site and definitely follow my tweets for on-going updated info.

Top 10 Items to Bring to a Gig

This is a good checklist for your lighting setup. Just the idea of having any sort of checklist is always good anyhow, not just for lighting.
I like to keep a box prepacked full of emergency items. I keep all sorts of cables, adapters, zip ties, etc. Even spare mics.
Of course, any pro DJ will always have backups of EVERYTHING! Including backup speakers, amps, mixers, and most important – MUSIC!

I’m just getting setup using Posterous for my DJ web sites, blogs and social media. I used ping.fm before, but feel that Posterous is the way to go!
